Kaltbad - First - Unterstetten - Scheidegg
The first section of this broad trail leads from the village Kaltbad to Rigi First. It offers great views of Lake Lucerne and of romatic holiday homes. Then it continues on an even level to Rigi Unterstetten. These first three kilometres make an ideal warm-up. At Unterstetten, you will pass the bridge of the ancient Scheidegg-Railway (1874 - 1931). Then, the trail climbs up softly and continuously, always following the ancient tracks of the railway, passing through a tunnel to Hinterdossen. By the little alpine cottage, you leave the main path in order to ascend to the plateau of Rigi Scheidegg, taking a few steeper curves. On top, you will enjoy a marvellous panoramic view of Rigi Kulm, Lake Zug and the Alps.
