Mineral bath & spa Rigi Kaltbad

A brief historical review helps to understand the concept of the new mineral bath & spa Rigi Kaltbad. In the 16th century, the place was known for its healing water (Kaltbad = cold bath). Up to 150 bathers per day visited the bath. Besides the importance for pilgrimage, Rigi Kaltbad has been a place of departure for the experience of the sunrise on Mt. Rigi since the beginning of tourism on the mountain.

It is the aim of the new mineral bath & spa Rigi Kaltbad to tie up with the traditions of this place.

It is the aim of the new mineral bath & spa Rigi Kaltbad to tie up with the traditions of this place. In a building, designed by Mario Botta, bathing shall be as significant as in the earlier days and the cultures of ancient Greece, Rome and Arabia.

The mineral bath & spa Rigi Kaltbad will be placed underneath the new village square, the "Giardino Minerale", also designed by the famous swiss architect Mario Botta. The two major parts of the facility are the mineral bath, wich will be accessible for everybody, and a spa which is accessible for adults only. The bath will be connected with the Hotel Hostellerie, so guests can visit the bath in their bathrobe.
