Panting and steaming, the nearly a hundred years old engines make their way to the top of Mt. Rigi. To reach the summit a steam locomotive consumes about 500 kilogrammes of coal and 2'200 litres of water.
Since 1871..
... Europe's first ever mountain railway has brought visitors from Vitznau up to Mt. Rigi. Many of the locomotives and coaches from the early years of the mountain railway have been painstakingly and professionally restored to their former splendour, and they now stand ready for their passengers.
