Here's a real challenge for you! It will cost you some sweat in order to reach the peak of Mt. Dossen. But you will be rewarded with a truly stunning panoramic view of Lake Lucerne and of the Bürgenstock peninsula.
We pass by the pictoresque pilgrimage chapel "Lady of the Snows" and head towards the ski-lift Ständli. After a sharp right turn and a short downhill passage, we reach the mountain path which leads to Unterschwändi and Rigi Kulm.
The first section of this broad trail takes you from Rigi Kaltbad to Rigi First and offers fine views of Lake Lucerne and romantic holiday homes. It continues on an even level to Unterstetten. These first three kilometres make an ideal warm-up, before you smoothly climb up to Rigi Scheidegg.
The connecting trail to Heiterenboden and Unterstetten branches off shortly after the train station of Klösterli. You will master a smooth and not too strenuous ascent to Unterstetten, passing over lovely alpine meadows.
Nordic Walking is about the most clever invention of the Finns since the sauna: It means smooth body-movements with a positive impact on health. You can experience this on Mt. Rigi's Swiss Nordic Park in both summer and winter. The trails are open all year round.
You will need a pair of carbon- or fibreglass sticks with adjustable hand-straps. These sticks absorb disturbing vibrations on your ankles, elbows and shoulders and enable you to perform your Nordic Walking effectively.
For best results, it is important that you make use of the right technique. So get some basic instructions from a Nordic Walking expert. You can book first time experience tours and guided Nordic Walking excursions at the following addresses:
