Mountain railways

Vitznau-Rigi Kulm cogwheel railway

No other mountain railway in the Alps has a longer history than this one: the Vitznau – Rigi Kulm cogwheel railway opened in 1871, making it Europe's first mountain railway. The journey was, and still is, an experience in itself.

Goldau - Rigi Kulm cogwheel railway

Centrally located: the valley station of the cogwheel railway from Goldau is conveniently located on the north-south railway line and can be reached from Zurich Central Station in just 37 minutes, meaning that this is often the fastest way to reach Rigi Kulm.

Weggis - Rigi Kaltbad aerial cable car

Please check the current operating status before your arrival.

It's almost like flying. The Weggis – Rigi Kaltbad aerial cable car floats high above the forest and the strata of «Nagelfluh» rock, offering views right down to Lake Lucerne and right out as far as the majestic peaks of the Bernese Alps, including the Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau.

Kräbel - Rigi Scheidegg aerial cable car

The family-friendly paradise of Rigi Scheidegg is only a stone's throw away.  This popular destination with its amazing 360° panoramic views and multiple ways to enjoy nature can be reached by cable car from Kräbel in just 6 minutes.
