Gersau used to be the smallest republic in the world, but today it is an idyllic holiday destination on Lake Lucerne. Due to its mild climate, Gersau is lovingly referred to as the “Riviera of Central Switzerland”. From here, you can take a day trip out onto the lake or up Mount Rigi. However, there are also plenty of charming places to visit in Gersau itself. This lakeside village also hosts the popular StradivariFEST musical festival every year.
