Vitznau - Wissifluh aerial cable car
The Wissifluh is a paradise for photographers. It is not even 1000 metres above sea level, yet the views from it are magnificent. The aerial cable car that gives access to this remote and romantic corner of the Earth is also a very special feat of mountain railway engineering.
Description
Without a single support pylon from Vitznau to the Wissifluh, the cable car covers a distance of nearly a kilometre and a difference in altitude of 448 metres. Furthermore, it is the first cable car in Switzerland to combine a circulating gondola-type system with a reversible tramway system. At the top, you'll find the Wissifluh Hotel, with its views over Lake Lucerne and the Bürgenstock peninsula. This restaurant has room for at least 50 people. The homely ambience makes it the perfect venue for a relaxed gathering, be that a small group of friends, a family party, a wedding or a business event. The charm of the place is really inspiring. So inspiring, that even the makers of the German-language TV series «Tatort» (Scene of the Crime) used the Wissifluh as a setting for a film in 2012.
