PROJECT DESCRIPTION

A group of parents living in Rigi Kaltbad would like to make the area more of a village, with attractive living, playing and learning spaces. A school plays a central role in this: the school uses the special play and learning space for the benefit of the children and facilitates the working life of the parents and guardians on Mount Rigi. New families are attracted by such an appealing place to work, which also creates added value for employers on the mountain.

PROJECT DESCRIPTION

The Rigi Railways and Railex are committed to chemical-free weed control on the tracks. For this purpose, a vehicle with a tank, ovens and nozzles is used. A mixture of water vapor at temperatures of up to 130°C destroys the cell walls of the plants through heat, causing them to dry out.

PROJECT DESCRIPTION

The renovated station building in Vitznau has been provided with a photovoltaic system on the completely refurbished flat roof. The Rigi Railways can avoid around 18'500 kg of CO₂ emissions every year with the installed system.

PROJECT DESCRIPTION

The fence lizard has its habitat along the Rigi Railway tracks. Hedges, piles of wood, branches and stones as well as conscious maintenance of the embankments protect and expand their habitats between Vitznau and Rigi Kaltbad.
