Rigi Kulm mountain chapel

The «Regina Montium» mountain chapel (at 1798 m) stands on Rigi Kulm.

Description

It is the youngest chapel in the parish of Arth and was built by Ernst Käppeli. On Easter Monday 1967, it was officially inaugurated by the Abbot of Einsiedeln, Benno Gut, and given the name «Regina Montium».

The chapel is a plain, simple building made of natural stone. In 1969 a stained glass window bearing the name of the chapel was installed: Regina Montium, «Queen of the Mountains». The window, by local artist Hans Schilter (1918-1988), adorns the altar wall.

The Rigi Kulm mountain chapel is perfect for weddings or christenings. It is easy to reach by taking the Rigi Bahnen railway from Vitznau or Goldau and it has room for 80 people.
