Extensive walking and hiking trails in the nearby landslide area or in the Rigi or Mythen region attract hikers. Mountain bikers also get their money's worth on the various trails around the Rigi.

Nature lovers will enjoy the cantonal nature reserve “Segel”, which is home to some very rare animal and plant species (e.g. kingfisher, etc.).

In winter, Lauerz benefits from its good connections to well-known and newly developed ski resorts such as Rigi, Stoos, Hochstuckli, Mythengebiet, Hoch-Ybrig and Andermatt.
