The Rigi Kaltbad Mineral Baths & Spa was designed by renowned Swiss architect Mario Botta. Its tranquil and contemplative ambience makes it the perfect place for rest and relaxation. The large indoor pool with its deep niches leads directly into the outdoor pool, where bathers are greeted by a sweeping Alpine panorama. Here, everyday life is quickly forgotten.
The region’s bathing tradition has its origins in the 16th century. At the time, the «Kalte Bad» (cold bath) on Mt. Rigi become a famous pilgrimage site and one of the first bathing chapels was erected here. Then as now, visitors bathe in the mineral-rich spring water from the Three Sisters Springs. However these days, wood-fired heating warms the water up to a pleasant 35° Celsius.
The pool complex is complemented by a spa area including a crystal spa, steam room, organic sauna and expansive chill-out zone. The luxurious facilities are rounded off by a large selection of massages, as well as beverages and light cuisine in the Botta Kaffee. Night-time bathing by candlelight is an absolute highlight during the winter months, which is held every last Saturday of the month. In summer, balmy evenings are perfect for enjoying a pleasantly warm dip while watching the sunset over the Alps.
Beyond the glass facade with stone slats, there is a clear panoramic view from the rear of the indoor pool and, of course, from the outdoor pool out across the mountainous landscape.
The indoor and outdoor pool areas feature the following:
• Massage jets
• Shallow water area
• Bubble seating with mountain views
• Bubble loungers
• Neck jets
• Herbal steam room
• Rest and relaxation area by the indoor pool • Sun deck with rest and lounge area
If you are a guest at Hotel Rigi Kaltbad, you can change into your bathrobe to quickly and easily access the baths and even enjoy the facilities two hours before the Rigi Kaltbad Mineral Baths & Spa has officially opened.
